SABRE Autonomous Solutions Pty Ltd is an award winning automation company focused on delivering autonomous solutions for hazardous environments.
Our world-first autonomous abrasive blasting robotic system is the result of more than 6 years of collaborative research and development between the University of Technology, Sydney and the New South Wales Roads & Maritime Services, culminating in the installation of two fully operational autonomous grit blasting robots on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The SABRE value proposition is clear:
We provide autonomous abrasive blasting systems for surface preparation contractors, asset owners or steel fabricators that want to perform abrasive blasting with improved health and safety for their workers, increased productivity of the blasting process and improved quality of the blasted surface.
Our StorySince 2006, researchers from the Centre for Autonomous Systems at the University of Technology, Sydney and the Roads and Maritime Services NSW (RMS) have been collaborating on the research and development of an autonomous grit-blasting system for steel bridge maintenance and rehabilitation. The result of all of this cutting edge research and development is the world’s first autonomous grit-blasting robot, capable of operating in complex environments and without prior knowledge of the structure that needs blasting. The project was so successful, that we formed Sabre Autonomous Solutions to develop the technology for the broader abrasive blasting industry in Australia and overseas. Read More

Through our close partnership we are able to benefit from Burwell’s extensive experience in the abrasive blasting industry, making sure that our products meet the needs of our customers.
The Centre for Autonomous Systems at the University of Technology, Sydney is a key research centre dedicated to robotics and autonomous systems research. The technology that underpins our autonomous grit-blaster was developed by the Centre for Autonomous Systems research team over many years, and the research centre continues to be an important partner as we develop even more innovative features for the next generation of products.
The Roads and Maritime Services New South Wales (RMS) have been involved in the development of the robotic grit-blasting technology in collaboration with UTS for more than 6 years. As a testament to their intent to minimise occupational health and safety risks to their staff, RMS have invested a significant amount of time and money in the development of this highly innovative solution. RMS continue to be an important partner for Sabre, and we could not ask for a better reference customer than the team responsible for looking after the world famous Sydney Harbour Bridge.
